EAST MOUNTAIN NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

MINUTES JUNE 15, 2016

Meeting was called to order at 7 pm. Pledge of Allegiance was led by Robert Perigard, President followed by a Moment of Silence for our departed neighbors and victims & families of the tragedy in Orlando, Florida.

 

Officer Matt Lemos reported 5 car vandalisms the previous month, some windshields were smashed. One resident may have footage on surveillance camera, also was a burglary on Piping Rock. Resident said they called 911 and there was no response, Matt was not aware of any issues with 911 calls not being answered. Resident also asked if the patrolmen could do more investigations into out of state plates, many, many noticed in the neighborhood and at the area parks.

 

Alderwoman Stephanie Cummings reported the tax rate went up about 2 mils this year. Board of Education meeting on 6/20 regarding expansion at Wendell Cross. July 13th City Planning meeting regarding proposed easement, residents are urged to attend and voice their opposition to the plan.

Motion by Larry Davino, 2nd by Tom Brunnock to donation $250.00 to Our Lady of Lebanon Church for EMNA banner at their festival.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

 

Opening Balance: $ 6,550.10

Income:                            0.00                                     

Expenses:                     748.85

Closing Balance:  $  5,801.25

 

Motion to accept Treasurer’s Report by Tim Connelly, 2nd by Mike Ptak.

 

City Liaison Office  Mike Ptak reported the tree was taken down on 48 bumps, a gate was installed at the park, and sprinklers are on at the park.

Neighborhood Watch  Bob McGovern reported an email went to all residents regarding car vandalism, a Mitsubishi car was on camera, same car seen next day, marker number was reported to police department to investigate.

 

Honorable Tom Brunnock  - Please attend City Planning meeting on 7/13 and voice opposition, signs will be posted at City Hall for location.

 

Old Business:  

Waterbury Veterans Memorial Dinner was attended by almost 20 residents. All the flags are up in the neighborhood. There is a sign-up sheet for newsletter. Please consider signing up for hospitality, need at least 3 volunteers for each upcoming meeting 2016-2017.

 

Upcoming Events:

Movies in the park will be 8/5 & 8/26.

 

New Business:

Historic Overlook Community Club has book for $5.00 donation.

Thank  you to Nancy & Mike Ptak for covered tables, set up and organization for June pot luck meeting.

 

14th Annual Harry Northrop Grant was presented to Drew Dasilva by Beverly Guevin for $1,000.00. Drew plans to attend Quinnipiac College in the fall pursuing doctorate in physical therapy.

 

Outgoing President Bob Perigard thanked everyone for their support and co-operation over the last four years and asked for continued support for his successor, Mike Stere. Vice President Dave Muccino thanked Bob for all his work and accomplishments during his term.
