Meeting
was called to order at 7 pm. Pledge of
Allegiance was led by Joe Geary, followed by a Moment of Silence for our
departed neighbors.
Community
Relations Officer Matt Lemos reported the no parking signs will be going up
near Piping Rock Apartments. Also signs
will be posted at the Sunrise property to prohibit riding of ATVs and will be
enforced. There was a burglary of some items from an unlocked shed on Fleetwood
Drive.
Alderwoman
Stephanie Cummings received the Volunteer of the Year Award for her book drive
which collected more than 30,000 books. Proposed budget increase is 1.99 mills, state funding for education cost sharing will
probably be reduced so please attend any upcoming public forums to have a
voice. Upcoming agenda will address an increase in the elderly tax credit,
about $250. Still discussing renovation
& addition to Wendell Cross School instead of building another school, might need more land for additional parking.
Proposed ceiling on car taxes might not happen because of the state cuts in
funding, The
East End Community club is sponsoring a free shredding day on May 7th at the FC
Credit union on Meriden Road from 8:30 am til noon.
Waterbury
Development – Mike Guisto has been appointed to serve another two years.
City
Liaison Office – Mike Ptak no report
Harry
Northrup Grant – deadline has passed.
Neighborhood
Watch – Bob McGovern no report
Nominating
Committee – presented nominations for President – Mike Stere & Secretaray –
Noella Mott. Elections next meeting.
Honorable
Tom Brunnock spoke on the 40 + acre parcel behind properties on Split Rock
Road. An attorney has been retained, there will be a request for donations on website
to pay the attorney fees. Nothing else to report this month.

Business: Earth Day, Saturday, May 7th, volunteers to help with
cleanup meet at church parking lot at 9:00 am gloves and bags will be provided.
New
Business: May 25, 2016 is Veterans
Memorial Committee Support the Troops dinner at Ponte Club,
tickets are $35.00 per person. Three EMNA members are among those being
honored. Motion by Stephanie Cummings, 2nd by Greg
St. John to spend $100 for ½ page ad in the program book.
EMNA
is invited to march in the Memorial Day Parade on May 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
Waterbury
Fire Department Awards night is May 19, 2016, tickets are $35.00, Motion by
Mike Guisto, 2nd by Tim Connelly to s p end $50.00 for a ½ page ad
in the program book.
Former
EMNA resident, Rob Paternostro, son of Louis & Meriam Paternostro of
Rockledge Drive, attended St Peter & Paul School, Holy Cross High School,
and SNHU. He has been honored in England for the 2nd time as
outstanding basketball coach.
Motion by Tim Connelly, 2nd by Jean Guisto to spend up to
$100 to plant new flowers under the sign in front of Valero station.
Motion by Tim Connelly, 2nd by Mike Stere to spend up to
$200.00 to trim the Christmas tree at golf course.
Week
of May 16th, city will be flushing hydrants, street sweeping also in
May.
