EAST MOUNTAIN NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
MINUTES
APRIL 24, 2019

Meeting was called to
order at 7:07 pm which began with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Cecile Davino
and followed by a Moment of Silence for our departed neighbors.
Alderman George Noujaim
was not present but sent in a report read by Mike Stere:

Renovations to
the ball field at East Mountain Park was approved.
·
There will be an
alderman sponsored clean up at East Mountain Park on June 15th.
·
Street sweeping
in the East Mountain area will occur within the next 2 to 3 weeks.
·
The city budget
is still being prepared. There will be a
meeting in the near future.
·
Water lines are
being repaired at Meriden and Woodtick Roads.
Expect delays.
Community Relations
Officer Charles Carangelo was absent. No
report.
State Representative
Stephanie Cummings was absent. No
report.
Secretary Dory St. John
reported
·
A brief summary
of the March meeting was presented. A
full report of the March minutes is posted on the EMNA website.

Minutes for
today’s meeting will be posted on the EMNA website
·
Correspondence
included: A get well card was sent to
Matt Lemos.
·
There were 7 new
families who moved into the East Mountain neighborhood: Harwood Rd., Shadybrook Lane, Butternut Ridge
Rd., Purdy Rd., Hamilton Ave., and two on Peach Orchard Rd.
Treasurer Colin Coburn reported:

Current report
for March was presented at the meeting and will be on file. If anyone would like any further information
regarding the Treasurer’s Report please contact him.

Motion to accept
Treasurer’s Report: Mike Stere, 2nd
general consensus. Motion carries.
President Mike Stere
reported on the last meeting of the Neighborhood Council:
·
The Council meets
on the fourth Wednesday of every month in the Cass Gilbert Room at City
Hall. All are welcome to attend.
·
Planters will be
maintained on Grand and Bank Streets and on South Main St.
·
The Mayor held a
Round Table on April 10th in which there was an update on blight,
etc.
City Liaison Officer Mike
Ptak reported:
·
Earth Day will be
on May 4th. Anyone interested
in participating in the cleanup will meet at 8:30 am at the solar panels in the
parking lot behind the Mall.
Participants will be given bags, gloves, water and a ticket for a hot
dog lunch from the Pal Food truck which will be served at 12:00 at the solar
panels in this lot.

Anyone interested
in a local clean up in the East Mountain area will meet on this day in the
parking lot of Our Lady of Lebanon Church at 9:00 am.
·
May 11th
there will be a Fishing Derby on the Naugatuck River near the Old Howard
Johnsons from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Neighborhood Watch Council
Bob McGovern had nothing new to report.
Community Property Project
Tom Brunnock had nothing new to report on the development.
Old Business:
·
The New
Neighborhood Watch signs will soon be installed. Volunteers are needed to hang the signs.
·
Removal of the
remainder 10 strings of Christmas Tree lights is scheduled for April 25th
at 4:00 pm. Volunteers are needed.
New Business:
·
The Nominating
Committee headed by Larry Davino has nominated Tom Brunnock for Vice
President. No other nominations were
made. Nomination closed. Colin Coburn was nominated for Treasurer. No other nominations were made. Nomination closed.
·
Volunteers are
needed for Hospitality.
·
The next meeting
for EMNA will be on May 15th at 7:00 pm.
