EAST MOUNTAIN NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

MINUTES

January 15, 2020

 

 

Attendees:  26

Meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm which began with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Greg St. John followed by a Moment of Silence for our departed neighbors.

 

Community Officer Charles Carangelo reported:

·         Discharge of a firearm

·         Stolen car

·         “Sovereign Citizens” were stopped by police for various crimes

 

District Alderman were absent – nothing to report

 

Secretary Dory St. John reported:

·         A brief summary of our last meeting in November was read.   These minutes are posted on the EMNA website.  This month’s minutes will also be posted on the EMNA website.  There was no meeting in December due to the unavailability of the church hall.

·         Correspondence included:  Two get well cards were sent to Dan Velez and Vito Santoro.  A sympathy card was sent to the Colgan Family.

·         Nine new families moved into the East Mountain neighborhood in December and January:  Four on Shadybrook Lane, one on Gayfield Rd., two on Peach Orchard Rd., one on Butternut Ridge Rd., and one on Gayfield Rd.

 

Treasurer Colin Coburn reported:

·         Current report for November and December was presented at the meeting and will be on file.  If anyone would like additional information regarding the Treasurer’s Report please contact him.

·         Motion to place the treasurer’s report on file by Mike Stere.  All in favor.  Motion carries.

 

City Liaison Officer Mike Ptak was absent – nothing to report.

 

Neighborhood Watch Commander Bob McGovern had nothing to report.

 

Old Business:

·         Tree lighting and visit with Santa in December was a success.

 

 

 

 

 

New Business:

·         Volunteers are needed to remove the Christmas Tree lights.

·         Neighborhood Outreach Program was presented by police this past weekend.  A good turnout was reported.

·         Volunteer is needed to take over the EMNA scrapbook.

·         Volunteer is needed to take over the position of the EMNA Vice President.

 

State Representative Stephanie Cummings reported:

·         New Legislative Session will run February 5th through May 30th.

·         A special session on tolls may take place before February 5th.  It was suggested that tolls on tractor trailers be implemented on 12 bridges primarily in Waterbury.

·         There is a “Politics and Pizza” event on Thursday, January 16th at Dominic and Vinnies from 6:30-7:30 pm.

·         “Winter is the Pits” will take place on February 1st at 12:00 pm at Hamilton Park.  There will be winter activities, food trucks, etc.

·         A motion to donate $300.00 to “Winter is the Pits” by Dave Muccino, 2nd by Greg St. John.  No objections.  Motion carries.

 

Bob Perigard reported that he is doing an inventory on damaged flags and poles and will submit a price when finished.

 

Motion to adjourn:  Bob Perigard, 2nd Dave Muccino.  Meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm.

 

A pot luck supper followed the meeting.
