MINUTES
OCTOBER 18, 2017

Meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm which began with the Pledge of Allegiance and followed by a Moment of Silence for our departed neighbors.
Officer Tiffany Healey reported:
· There were 2 larcenies in the community: one on Glenrock Rd. and one on Eastside Blvd.
· She will be teaching the next 2 ½ weeks and will not be on the road.
Correspondence:
· Thank you notes from the family of Violet Codianni and the McGovern family are on file.
Treasurer’s Report by Colin Coburn covering the period of Sept. 1 > Sept. 30, 2017:

Secretary’s Report by Dory St. John:
· I apologize for not being able to attend September’s Meeting.
· Barbara Stere took the minutes for the meeting and these have been posted on the website.
Neighborhood Watch Commander Bob McGovern:
· See Officer Tiffany Healey’s report.
Community Property Project Hon. Tom Brunnock:
· Unable to attend the meeting but reported that there was no decision on the third appeal.
Old Business:
Vice President Bob Perigard reported:
· The Neighborhood Council met on September 22. President of all Councils were present. Lisa Velez, President of the Neighborhood Council would like EMNA to return. She will contact Bob Perigard.
· There are concerns that there is a lack of community officers in the city. Twenty two officers recently graduated.
· The Zoning Commission voted 5:1 in favor of the beginning of excavation for the community property abutting Split Rock Drive. Very few people from the East Mountain community attended this meeting.
New Business:
· Neighborhood flags will be removed on Veteran’s Day (11/11) at noon. Contact Bob Perigard.
· There will be a pasta dinner fundraiser for the church on Thursday (10/26) at 6:00.
· Hospitality needs people for February, March, April, and May. Contact Laurie Mucino or Kathy Brunnock.
· Four new families have moved into the East Mountain neighborhood.
· Upcoming events will be Santa & Christmas Tree lighting on December 3rd.
State Representative/Alderwoman Stephanie Cummings reported:
· There is still no state budget but there is a foundation for an agreement hopefully by Oct. 25th.
· More information will be forthcoming on the sewage spill in the Naugatuck River.
· On Nov. 19th Stop & Shop on Reidville Dr. will be having “Stuff a Hummer” from 11a to 3p. They are looking for non- perishables for Veterans at home.
· There is no progress so far on highway tolls.
· There is also talk on the legalization and taxation of marijuana.
President Mike Stere would like any ideas for speakers for future meetings. Bob Perigard suggested an update on the I-84 Project.
